Million Dollar Celebrity Weddings

“Here comes the bride” doesn’t always come cheap, especially for the A-listers. Celebrities spend a fortune on extravagant weddings because, well, wouldn’t you if you had the money? The wedding that everyone is currently waiting anxiously for is that of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. Their long-anticipated engagement has only been followed by predictions on how much her dress will cost, what it will look like, etc. While we wait for their wedding bill, let’s take a  look at other celebrity wedding budgets (or lack thereof).

Kate Middleton & Prince William

Their royal wedding last April at the Westminster Abbey in England cost an estimated $34 million. It is rumored that most of that budget went towards security for the special day.

s

s

s

Kim Kardashian & Kris Humphries

Even though the couple has since split, it doesn’t mean we can’t admire the amount of money they dropped on the event last August. Her fairytale wedding cost upwards of $6 million. Keep in mind that that is the cost AFTER the discounts she received for promoting companies on her Twitter and TV shows. Sheesh! I wonder what the price would have looked like before those were taken into consideration!

s

s

Eva Longoria & Tony Parker

The Desperate Housewives star married the NBA player on July 7, 2007. This lavish affair is estimated to have cost about $1.5 million. Her dress was about half the cost, ringing up at $75,000!

s

s

s

s

s

Sir Elton John & David Furnish

Back in 2005, the couple threw down $1.75 million for their special day. They exchanged vows in front of about 700 guests in England on the day that gay unions were legalized in the UK.

s

The average American wedding costs somewhere around $27,000, but that is nothing in comparison to the weddings of celebrity couples. Throwing down millions of dollars, their weddings will outshine ours any day of the week!

Walk Down the Aisle in the Perfect Wedding Dress This Season

Who doesn’t love weddings? More importantly what girl doesn’t love shopping for her wedding dress… even if she doesn’t even have a boyfriend yet! C’mon admit it – we’ve all done a little browsing here and there or watched a million re-runs of Say Yes to the Dress on TLC. Wedding dresses are exciting to shop for, so here are some awesome dress styles to look out for this year. First, check out Randy Fenoli on the Today show where he discusses his experience as a consultant and 4 fabulous dress trends: raw edge, accessories, color, and lace. I’m just going to add on to what Randy mentions in the video though.

Kate Middleton inspired three of the five different trends that I’m bringing to you last year with her gorgeous, custom-made wedding gown: lace, illusion necklines, and sleeves. Lace has skyrocketed in popularity since she made her way down the aisle in lace sleeves. The vintage style has been given a modern twist, adding a touch of class (and texture) to wedding gowns. Illusion necklines have also become more popular. There is something extremely sexy about these necklines – the fact that you’re covering up without actually covering up is perfect for a wedding. Lastly, her dress gave sleeves a new life. We used to just really see strapless gowns, but after Kate’s dress we are seeing much more sleeve usage – even something as simple as off the shoulder sleeves.

Also, like Randy mentioned in the video, color is playing a bigger role in wedding dresses. Personally, I am much more of a fan of the lighter sherbert options as opposed to the bolder brighter colors.

s

s

s

s

s

The last trend I wanted to talk about was ruffles. The raw edge look that Randy mentioned in the video was based on ruffles and movement and architecture. Ruffles give a wedding dress a great look, adding dimension to the gown. Plus, ruffles really help you show off your personality if that’s the type of dress you choose to go with.

s

s

s

s

What type of wedding dress will you have? A-line, mermaid, fit and flare, ball gown, strapless, lace, chiffon…??? Let’s hear it and take our own poll of what’s most popular this season based on our own votes!

How to Wear the Jean’s Trend

Everyone wears jeans, but it can get a little boring wearing the same old denim styles over and over again. Luckily, this summer has brought around a few different jean trends that are likely to fit any style and are much more exciting than your basic old blue jean. So what’s the skinny on this summer’s jeans?

1. Bright Colors

Calvin Klein advertises this trend here (check out the website for their entire denim collection or go to calvinkleinjeans.com). Of course, I would recommend wearing a shirt with your jeans when you go out in public… but that’s just me!

2. Pastel Hues

Mint green has got to be this season’s hottest color. If you don’t already have a pair of mint pants, get your butt to the nearest mall! Along with mint, I’m also talking other mild colors like light yellow or pink. these can be paired with a bright (possibly neon) color on top or even something as simple as white or beige – it’s your choice!

s

s

s

3. White

White jeans have always been a summer staple. I mean “no wearing white before memorial day or after labor day” pretty much limits the white trend to the summer, so make sure to take advantage of it! White jeans are the perfect summer trend and can be paired with virtually any top. As you can see to the right, you can even go white on white for an ultra chic and sophisticated look.

s

s

s

4. Prints

From springy florals to animal prints, jeans are coming in all sorts of prints and patterns this summer. Be sure to pair this trend with a solid top as to not look too busy. Also, if the printed pants look is too much for you, try testing the trend out with shorts first. Its much less overwhelming being that it’s covering less of your body.

s

s

s

s

s

5. Skinny Crop

Skinny jeans that are cropped at the ankle are a fresh take on the typical skinny jeans. This trend is best-suited for women with longer, leaner legs.

s

s

Have you been wearing any of these trends this summer? Which is your favorite?

Looking forward to hearing from you!

The Sun is Beaming, Grab Some Shade(s): The Right Sunglasses For You

Shades are a necessity during the summer seasons, but what’s hot and what’s not changes each year. So what’s in this summer and which of those trends fit your face shape? Read on fashionistas!

Square, angular faces should stick to round shades. This helps soften your features and draws attention away from your strong jawline and towards your eyes.

s
s

s

Heart-shaped faces should try to mimic their face shape and choose glasses that are wider at the top than at the bottom. A lot of the more vintage styles such as aviators, wayfarers, and cat-eyes fit your face best.

s

Oval faces have the easiest time shopping for sunglasses because many of the shapes and styles out there will flatter your face. Oversized, aviators, square frames – whatever floats your boat. The most important thing to pay attention to with oval faces are your features. If you have a small oval face with small features, avoid the oversized look as to not look like your face is being attacked by your shades.

s

s

ss

Round faces require angular sunglasses in order to balance out the roundness of your face, so look for straight lines and hard angles. Rectangular glasses are best for this type of face, and remember to pay attention to proportion again. Don’t choose small frames if you have a larger face and features.

Which Look is Le$$?

Have an appetite for designer styles but can’t afford to fund your expensive taste? There are ways around that, so get the look for less! Put it to the test – I bet you can barely tell the difference.

So which memorial day outfit is the knockoff? To your right is the nearly $1300 outfit consisting of a Charles Anastase dress, DVF shoes, and Helene Berman hat, while the almost identical outfit on the left costs less than $300. Save $1000? Yes, please!

s

s

These ones are almost identical! Can your hunger for designer styles lead you in the right direction this time? On the left are Christian Louboutin heels which ring up a total of $995! On the right are heels by Jessica Simpson which can be found at http://www.jessicasimpson.com/ and cost a mere $98. When you find a match this close and are on a budget, I’d say why not go with the cheaper pair!?… Except for the fact that the other choice are Louboutins!!! (As you can see, I’m still a little torn.) But at least your wallet will thank you!

This one may be a little easier to tell which is which, but without having one next to the other you would never know. On the left is an original Bottega Veneta that would break your bank at a whopping $4,050! You can grab the one on the right from Forever 21 at forever21.com for $35… That’s over $4,000 you can save for an almost identical look! Incredible, right!?

So we’ve seen it done with clothes, bags, shoes, but you can even steal a celeb’s accessories at a fraction of the cost! On the left are Ippolita teardrop earrings that go for $515, where you can get the look-alikes from t+j Designs on their website http://www.tplusjdesigns.com/ for $12!

Now what if you could get the look for less without feeling like you betrayed your favorite designer by going with a cheaper version? That’s what Boutique on 57 is all about – bringing you real designer fashion at up to 75% off the retail price! Yes, I did say real designer styles and affordable in the same sentence. Check out our collection of top-of-the-line designer clothes, bags, shoes, and accessories at shop.boutiqueon57.com! Stop buy and get the real deal at prices so low it hurts!

The Luxurious Battle of Handbags: Valextra vs Hermes

Hermes is known for its leather and has bags for any occasion, while Valextra is an upcoming brand that is becoming increasingly popular and is getting more interest from the public eye. So which luxury brand is really most luxurious???

Hermes

Hermes bags are known for their luxurious quality. From day to evening to luggage, you can find many of the styles you’re looking for all made from premium leather.

Check out the entire collection here at http://usa.hermes.com/.

Valextra

s

Valextra is a fairly new brand or is at least fairly new at being popular. Its bags are fine and appear clean-cut and very obviously luxurious. Some of its styles are similar to those of Hermes, but that still leaves the question of who does it better?

s

Where I do believe that Valextra has the advantage is in its variety. Valextra has a wide selection of items within its categories of clutches, luggage, everyday bags, and more. Check out the entire collection here at http://www.valextra.it/Default.aspx.

So who won this royal battle? Why don’t I let you decide… Tell me which designer brand you like best!

Looking forward to hearing from you!

You Don’t Need a Catwalk to Strut Your Stuff

With a “work it girl” attitude and the right pair of shoes, women are unstoppable. So here’s what’s hot, hot, hot this summer (besides the weather)!

1. Boat Shoes

Everyone is talking about boat shoes, and if you don’t own a pair of Sperry’s yet then you better run out and get yourself some because you’re the only one! Boat shoes, which may have been viewed in the past as just a “Dad’s shoe”, have been given a new life in the past year or so. You can really express your personality with the color and pattern you pick, too! Pair them with skinny jeans or shorts and you’ve got yourself the perfect summer look.

2. Sandals

Strappy sandals are a classic summer look. Go for the ones that are nude or slightly brown because they really compliment the seasonal colors and your tan skin! They are perfect for casual, everyday looks and can be worn well with anything – skinny jeans, sundress, shorts, etc.

s

s

s

3. Booties

These booties were made for walkin’! Ankle high boots are a summer trend that continue to grow more popular each year. I finally bought myself a pair this summer! Pair them with a sundress to get a more rustic country feel or with shorts if you’re going boho chic. What’s great about these is that they can even be worn in the Fall/Spring with a pair of skinny jeans!

4. Wedges

Espadrille wedges have been around for ages but never go out of style. Strappy wedges can dress up your summer outfit, whether it’s a sundress or just jeans and a tee.

s

s

s

s

5. Peep-Toe Pumps

s

Peep-toe pumps are the perfect style shoes for a night out on the town. Whether you plan on hitting the club or just hanging at a bar with your girlfriends, the peep-toe is the summery alternative to the classic heel. Try nude color schemes or bright and bold – both are in this season!

Lessons from Roger Federer

Roger Federer taught me a valuable lesson today.

Oops he did it again.

Yesterday few girlfriends of mine came over to support our tennis friend Roger Federer at his 2012 Wimbledon final against Andy Murray. I was a nervous wreck before the match started. I kind of knew what to expect and still painted for fresh air conditioning breeze to unfold this electrifying historic day. The cameras were rolling and sticking to Roger’s face recording this enormous event.

Roger knew the value of winning this match and making a history.  This meant reaching his 17th Grand Slam, reclaiming his number 1 status of the world’s best tennis player as well as teeing square 7th Wimbledon win with my other friend Pete Sampras. I was suspecting that Pete was throwing some spells at Roger from preventing it to happen. (ha ha) After all who doesn’t want to remain a legend and be remembered as the best ever?

Roger did confirm my suspicion and for the 7th time he grabbed his Wimbledon trophy sealing his win with a sweet kiss on the pot of gold.

Smile

What made a difference this time?

Have you ever wondered, as have I, what makes such a dramatic difference in people’s lives and careers? It isn’t always money or talent or hard work. It isn’t that one person wants success and the other doesn’t. You will be shocked and lit up with interest if I told you that distance to getting anything you desire is just 2 millimeters. That’s right you have heard me correctly. This minuscule correction makes your tennis or golf swing more effective, trim haircut invisible, your facelift look more neutral, because your ideal beauty is matter of millimeters, your perfect 2mm veneer smile, your Ipod as thin that fits into your jean pocket, etc. You got the idea. I like to call it 2 millimeter trance

I shared this revelation with my girlfriends as they looked captivated by the validity of my statement, and asked the obvious question?.

-What do you mean 2 millimeters correction trance?

I paused to collect my thoughts and then said.  We are all in some trance.  People are fixated about their problems and their dreams all the time. They are searching too far for the magical formulas to solve or change them.  You need to meet yourself where you already are before you can take yourself to where you want to go. And this distance is only 2  millimeter (metaphorically speaking).

– So you need to step right up?-they all yelled enthusiastically.

– This isn’t at first as obvious as it may appear. The confusion is that wonderful state right before clarity. And Roger got plenty of both during  his game. – I continued without the exhale.

The difference also lies in how attuned each person is to the spiritual forces around them and how they can tap into that power to have a more successful life.

Today Roger discovered the ability to tap into the supreme source of ultimate power, meaning, and he let it all go.  The aura around him was so visible that I felt immediately he owned it within every inch of his body. This was the most magical moment for him by raising to the level of display of outrageous tennis. He entered into the field of magic, charisma hypnotically seducing us all over again with his majestic grace.

Roger made me tick

What does this guy know that you and I can benefit from? He is one of the most down to earth people, and turns into tennis monster on the court.

We normally would do anything for those who encourage our dreams, justify our failures, allay our fears, confirm our suspicion, and help us throw the rocks at our enemies.  I was relieved no one was throwing rocks during the match (nor were there any naked runs through the court). There was a great lesson to be learned right at the front of our eyes. Roger displayed incredible tennis chemistry and encouraged me to never stop dreaming. If this guy doesn’t make you feel like you can unlock the treasure chest of success, fulfillment then you may as well forget any sort of attempt at all.

The point of this confession is that the most magical things in life -on and off the court – are often the result of the correct application of testing and finding our 2 millimeters.

Looking forward to hear about your 2 millimeters revelations.

7 Common Clothing Mistakes You Want to Avoid

Dressing well is something that everyone strives for – even if you’re no fashionista. We live in a world where, even if we don’t want to admit it, we are judged based on how we look… I mean first impressions really are everything! So here is a list of no-no’s you should stay away from when picking out your outfit each morning.

1. Too Tight

Everyone wants to show off something when they’re dressing themselves, so the first and most common mistake you can make is wearing clothing that is too tight. Although we wanna show off that flat tummy or those vuluptuous curves, you don’t want to suffocate in your own wardrobe. Tight isn’t always the most flattering, so don’t try to fit into that smaller size just because you want to feel skinnier or you might end up looking like this!

s

2. Too Young/Old for Your Age

Dress appropriately! I cannot stress this enough! Women in their 40s trying to dress like they are in college just look ridiculous. I’m not trying to be cruel, but it is true! You can still look hot no matter what your age is as long as your dressing appropriately for your age!

s

3. Detail Overload

Overexposure of logos is never a sign of dressing well. You are not a NASCAR racecar, so you should not be covered in sponsors and logos.

4. White After Labor Day

This rule is as crucial as the laws of physics – they cannot be ignored! Not only should you not wear white after labor day simply because it’s a fashion felony, but also because you should be focusing on wearing colors that suit your skin tone. You want your features and your skin color to look great in what you wear, so don’t wear colors that do nothing for them. If your skin is paler, you shouldn’t always be picking pale colors because your skin will just look dull. Try picking a more vibrant color scheme for your wardrobe! Julianne Moore chose a softer color here and did it right by complimenting her pale complexion.

5. Shapes that Don’t Suit Your Body

Doing this is just you being a hazard to yourself. Even if you are not satisfied with your body shape, you must be aware of what that shape is and how to flatter it. If you have a pear-shaped body and you’ve got those big hips, try wearing something like a wrap dress that draws attention to the chest and waistline instead. If you’ve got a stick-like figure and want to fake some curves, wear clothing that already has its own shape like one of those form-fitting shirts that flare at the bottom or a ruffled shirt with a pencil skirt.

6. Too Busy

Wearing too many prints or buttons can be the epitome of fashion trends gone wrong. Too much of a good thing is bad! Wearing a shirt that has a mixture of different animal prints on it and buttons or such to match may look cute on a 4 year-old toddler, but on a grown woman? Not so much. Even designers get it wrong sometimes – this model is simply wearing too much print!

s

s

7. Too Matronly

There is absolutely nothing wrong with dressing conservatively, but when your fashion choices are sacrificed because you don’t think you can flaunt what you’ve got in other ways… that is where I draw the line! You can look great without showing off too much skin, but you shouldn’t hide beneath layers of frumpy looking clothes either! Choose a look that is sophisticated yet chic like a dress with a full, flowy skirt paired with a cardigan.

So what do you think the most fatal fashion faux pas are?

Looking forward to hearing what you have to think!
